- !NetConfig 0.2
- 26 July 1995
-
- This is a beta test version of a program to set up the KA9Q (!TCPIP)-based
- free Internet software. The idea is to provide a user-friendly interface to
- guide the user through the various options and configuration information that
- need to be specified, then to set up the individual applications (!SLIPdial,
- !TCPIPUser, !Newsbase, !Newsdir and !TTFN) according to the information
- given.
-
- Before running it, you should copy !NetConfig into the same directory as
- (clean) versions of !Newsbase, !SLIPdial, !TCPIP, !TCPIPUser and !TTFN as
- delivered in the StarterPack version 1.2.
-
- As this is a beta test version, you should expect that there may be a one
- or two problems or areas which could be improved. Any comments, bug reports
- etc. will be gratefully received; send them to colin@nyphot.demon.co.uk
-
- By making the program modular, it should be simple to add other Internet
- providers to those supported. Typically a module of only a few hundred bytes
- and a few entries in the Messages file will be all that are needed. See the
- file Docs.Provider, and the examples Lib.IFL and Lib.Zynet. A more
- complicated example is in Lib.Demon; this uses most of the standard dialogs
- but substitutes its own Account dialog, to allow for the option of dialling
- in to set the password and fetch the IP address.
-
- See the Docs directory for some more details. I'm afraid there's not much
- documentation yet, but hopefully the code is not too obscure, and there are
- even one or two REMs!
